Tom was our bassist since Thunderhill Jazz Band started. He died in October 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He was the ultimate professional, and a great gentleman. We miss you Tommy. RIP.
Tom Severino grew up in Hartford, Connecticut and began his musical career playing piano, clarinet, and bass. After high school, Tom had a music scholarship for the Julius Hartt School of Music, but due to the Korean War, he ended up enlisting in the Air Force. Tom auditioned and was accepted into the Air Force band program where he played bass and several additional instruments at various Air Force bases and facilities throughout the U.S. (Westover AFB, Massachusetts; Richards-Gebaur AFB near Kansas City, Missouri; NORAD, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lowry AFB, Denver, Colorado; and Chanute AFB near Rantoul, Illinois), and around the world (Pepperell AFB, St. John’s Newfoundland; Clark AFB, Philippines; and in Vietnam).
